You do not have to spend a lot of money to have fun in San Antonio. Since the early 50s, tourists and citizens alike have walked along the famous River Walk appreciating the scenery, stores, galleries, eateries, clubs and special events on the way. Stretching about two and-a half miles, the San Antonio River Walk brings countless visitors per annum. A current development project finishes in the year 2014 and expands the River Walk from two to 13 miles to join San Antonio's missions with cultural neighborhoods and museums. Though walking is definitely enjoyable, you may also take a river taxi cab to get at your location along the River Walk.
Numerous festivals, parades, concerts along with alternative actions take place on the San Antonio River Walk through the year. In 1718, the first mission was constructed and over the next 13 years, five missions as a whole were created across the banks of the San Antonio River. Today, these five missions make up what's known as San Antonio Mission Trail. The 5th one, Mission San Antonio de Valero, become known as The Alamo. The museum at Mission Trail shows bona fide and reproduced artifacts, whilst the bookstore provides informative materials to better comprehend the history of the region. In the late nineteenth century, the area became a favorite neighbourhood among German immigrants. If you enjoy historical houses, this region of San Antonio is very intriguing and unique. Built in 1860, the Guenther House has become possessed by the San Antonio Conservation Society and includes a restaurant, museum and store. Additionally to Guenther House, there are a variety of other distinctive houses to see in the King William region. The picturesque Ursuline Campus fields offer a fine crafts Sales Gallery, a weekday lunch caf, a museum of visitors and public gardens. The Navarro Campus features modern exhibitions that reflect the art school training mission. Art classes, camps and special events can be found for a fee.
